consultation regarding legal liablity of the operating surgeon in case of failed sterilisation procedure. From: amita (amitasharma@yahoo.com)Mon Jun 19 11:38:59 2000
Kindly tell the trends regarding the liablity of the surgeon in different countries in cases of failed sterilisation operations. In India ,recently, two doctors were found NEGLIGENT on account of failed sterilisation procedures(female).Considering the fact that the family planning procedures have there inherent failure rates-should the doctors be held responsible if the patient becomes pregnant and decides to continue the pregnancy and deliver. The court held the doctor guilty of negligence and he has to pay for the upkeep of the child till he/she attains the age of 18 years. Please tell the trends in different countries.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
