Back from doc, Need advice on overweight and hysterectomyFrom: KN (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Sep 30 12:14:02 2004
Ok, so I went to the doc today and he confirmed via transvaginal ultrasound that there is fluid behind my uterus around the bowel area. This indicates to him that the Lupron is, indeed, failing. I'm in month 5 of 6 (but I had 2 three-month injections), so relief should have occurred. As a last ditch effort, he's put me on progesterone, and said he'll be able to tell via ultrasound in 2 weeks if it's helped. Plus, I'll know by a decrease in pain symptoms. Now, the question- if progesterone fails, he said hysterectomy is the only option. Plus, he'll have to cut me open (not laperoscopic) because it's the only way he can see that area of the bowels and everything else really well. I am overweight- he said it's not impossible, but that I have a higher risk factor for blood clots, infection, and the incisions site opening back up. Has anyone else who's overweight had this done? Is it really as bad as I think?
