Dana, Glad you found the forum! It is a wonderful site and is a great way to find info and support. It is so scary to be diagnosed with endo, and even harder to understand everything in relation to it. It is a very confusing disease, one that the medical field doesn't completely understand, and one that gives us very few options.

I think you are making the right decision by deciding on a lap. A lap is the only real way to diagnose endo. For that reason alone, I think it is worth having just so you know if it really is endo or not. Also, many Doctors can also try and treat the endo during the lap by removing any adhesions and scar tissue caused from it. Talk to your Doc about this though, as some just do a lap for diagnostic purposes only and do not remove any of it. And sometimes they can't remove all they can see anyway if it is close to other organs like the bowels or bladder.

I have not tried Seasonale, but I have taken regular bcp (Lo-Ovral) continuously, meaning no periods unless I force one every few months. That is the same thing as taking Seasonale. For me, it did help a little. Initially my pain was not as bad and it was nice to not have a period every month. But after several years, my pain and all the other symptoms came back full force, so I just had a third lap and am doing Lupron.

In regards to Lupron, do your research and make the best decision for you. You can search back through the archives on the forum for lots of messages on Lupron. Everyone reacts differently to it and some women have had very bad experiences. I, on the other hand, handle Lupron very well and don't seem to have any long term side effects. I have been on it again for about a month, and this is my second time taking it. I am completely pain free while on it and usually stay that way for about a year or so after. I am one of the lucky ones though.

Hope this helps some! Everyone on the forum is here for you if you need us! Be sure to check the archives for old messages about lap, lupron, etc. to find out some additional info. Feel free to email me direct if you would like: ameyer@dbllaw.com

Hugs and hang in there! Amy
