I am 33 yrs old. I have a daughter who is 6 yrs old and had a c section at 26 weeks due to preeclampsia.

I started my period when I was about 12 or 13 yrs old. When I was 17-18 yrs old, I began Ortho Novum 777/28 because of irregular cycles combined with frequent cysts. I took them until I was 26. I got pregnant with my daughter and did not resume BCP's at that time.

My periods are now regular, every 28 days like clockwork. In the past I would get bad cramping pain the first 24 hours only.

Then, last month something different happened. My flow is usally pretty heavy the first few days but last month all I had was severe, severe pain and very little flow. It was more like heavy spotting.

After 24 hours on the bathroom floor vomiting and sweating with abdominal pain I ended up in the ER. Diagnosed with dysmenorrhea, told to see a gyn.

The next day I was still in severe pain so I went to the gyn. By that time I had been in severe pain for 72 long agonizing hours.

Pap/pelvic was done. She said everything seemed to be ok, didn't find anything abnormal. She did some blood tests including thyroid, pregnancy test, CBC, all was normal.

I was supposed to stay for an ultrasound but had to leave. I had to go back to work. I rescheduled and then the tech cancelled due to an emergency. I never got it done.

My gyn gave me Cyclessa BCP's to take beginning this month but she said with my history of the c section, and sudden severe pain it sounds alot like endo, try the BCP's first and if no relief, a lap would be done.

After several days, the pain finally eased up and all was well again.

Friday, like clockwork, my period starts. Again, I find myself on the floor doubled over with not cramps but what feels like one long continous cramp. Sort of like someone has their fist around my insides and won't let it go. However, I am bleeding a little heavier this month.

The pain goes down my legs, to my low back. My legs feel heavy, like lead. I break out in cold sweats. I throw up. I have diarrhea. I feel very weak and worn out.

I can not do this month after month. I'm eating Tylenol for pain every 4 hours. Due to a bad stomach, I can't take NSAIDS. I don't tolerate narcotics for pain either. They make me feel weird.

I am keeping my belly wrapped in heat. The playtex heat therapy things feel soothing to a degree.

I just can't do this another month. Once again, life for me comes to a screeching halt when I start my period for longer than 24 hours.

I had my exhusband come get our daughter because honestly, I cant even take care of myself right now. She's better off with him until I am more functional.

The pain is awful. Below the navel, between my hips, just this terrible, terrible dull ache that's constant. Occasionally I get sharp pain but it's brief.

What I have recalled from the last 2 months is I will feel cramps days prior to onset.

I'm supposed to start the Cyclessa tonight. Has anyone heard of it or tried it? I am a little hesitant because of the side effects, but at this point, I'll honestly try anything.

I'm calling my doctor in the morning to let her know it's happened again this month.

I want to rip my hair out it hurts so bad and I feel so weak and out of sorts. I can't keep eating all this tylenol.

What should I do now? What would you do?? I like my doctor and she's concerned, doesn't want to do anything aggressive or invasive at this point. That's why she suggested the BCP's.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions or anything. I sure would appreciate it. Thank you for your time.
