Newbie here...Love this group!From: Angela (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Mar 17 08:50:24 2004
Hi everyone! My name is Angela and I am 28 yrs. old. I was recently diagnosed with Endometriosis in Nov. 2003. I have already had one Lap and I am having another one on March 26, 2004. I didn't know much about Endo until recently. Everything that I have read about it makes me believe that I have had it ever since I first got my period at age 10. I have had terrible problems with my periods (pain to the point of passing out, irregular periods, bowel problems, etc.) and I was always told that it was part of being a woman and having your period. I missed work and school because of these problems. I have never had children. Doctors and family always just said to take pain killers and wait it out. Then about a year ago, I got a pain in my lower right side. It was constant, stabbing, and sometimes radiates into my hip and down my right thigh. I also have had severe lower back pain. It would not go away! I also had more horrible than usual periods and nausea and vomiting for no apparent reason. Doctors did every known test they could do on me and kept saying I was healthy and fine. Then I finally went to an Obgyn Doctor who did a Lap in Nov. 2003 to check out my ovaries because he thought that it was an ovarian cyst. He found lots of cysts on my right ovary (which he said he could not drain, they were too solid) and he cut out some Endo that had attached the back of my uterus to my back wall of my abdomen. After the surgery, I still had the pain, nausea, vomiting, horrible periods, and bowel problems. I had a colonoscopy and they found nothing. The doctor put me on CBC but I bled for 2 months straight and he took me off of it. He wanted me to go on Lupron, but I refuse. My husband and I want to have children. He didn't want to do anything else but I told him I can't function with the pain (I was a pre-school teacher and I had to quit working because of all of this.) So he finally agreed to do another Lap on March 26 with the possible removal of my right ovary. I am so tired and in pain all the time! I have a very understanding and loving husband! I don't like being stuck at home all the time and not being able to do the things I used to do. This group has been so great for me! I don't feel alone or like it is "all in my head." I have learned so much about Endo so that my husband and I can make informed decisions about what to do next. The doctor thinks a Hysterectomy will solve everything but I'm not ready for that yet! I would love to hear more about diet and exercise as I know I need to work on that part of my life and if it helps so much the better. How do you exercise in pain though? Sorry this is so long! Thanks again to everyone!
