Re: What now? Lupron? Danazol? Another Surgery?

Hi Franny:

I was you 6 months ago. I opted for the lap first since I didn't want to try the drugs but not surprisingly it didn't help.

I am on Lupron now- week 6. Week 3 was tough for side effects, but now I feel better than I did before Lupron. When I wake up I feel like I am 25 not 85. The only side effect I have now is hot flashes and they are easy to handle once you get the hang of it. I have a friend who took it at age 22 after 7 lapraoscopies. She is in remission now and had absolutely no side effects. For some people it really is a good option.

A women in my support group has had good sucess with Danazol. My doctor told me that research has shown that the higher doses of Danazol used in the past aren't necessary and with the lower doses side effects are minimized. The pharmacist said that given the nature of the drug, it wouldn't survive on the market if more than 5% of people who took it grew facial hair etc. Another bonus of Danazol he said, is that it can be used long term unlike Lupron.

Good luck with your decision. Remember, its easy to be scared away by 1 person's experience...but sometimes forums are misrepresentative of real results. Afterall, people who aren't in pain don't go searching the internet for solutions.
