I was diagnosed with endometriosis when I was 13 years old. I am now 22 years old, and after many different treatments, have found no relief. I have been on at least 12 different types of birth control, lupron depot for 2 6 month intervals with a year in between, have had 2 lap surgeries, and with all of this, my endometriosis has gotten worse. It is now on my ovaries, my fallopian tubes, my bowels, and possibly within the walls of my uterus itself. My scar tissue is so bad that my uterus is tipped backwards and is stuck to my bowels. I develop cysts every time I get my period. On top of this, I can not get a prescription for pain medication to save my life, because I had been on tyelnol #3 since I was 13, therefore it is assumed that I have a dependence issue. I am at the end of my rope when it comes to pain management. I have just moved back into the Philadelphia area and am desperately seeking a new specialist that might be able to help me. Does anyone know of anyone good? As a side note, my last specialist in Philadelphia recommended a presacral neurectomy when I was 18, after my first lap. (Pre-sacral neur. is a procedure that removes a portion of the presacral nerve in the cervix so that I would no longer feel pain in my abdomen... a bit too risky and extreme in my opinion tho). Also, does anyone have any suggestions for alternative medicine like acupuncture and the like? Has anyone tried a method like this for pain management? Please help.
