Answer from Women's Health ForumFor more information on symptoms and treatment of endometriosis visit www.EndometriosisZONE.org. From: Kristy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Dec 13 21:38:52 1999
Hi again ladies!! I got an answer from the drs at the Women's Health forum. He answered based on preeclampsia so I wrote back to ask if there's a difference between the two, but for now here is what Dr. Marchbein who is a regular over there had to say: At this point in time, preeclampsia does not appear to be an autoimmune disease. (I try and leave things open for future information). There may be a genetic component as well as nutritional factors and concomittent chronic hypertension AND preeclampsia is noted more frequently in first pregnancies (for the first pregnancy with another mate) but a lot of what is written below has, shall we say, not made it to the medical literature. A "reaction" or "exposure" to "new" sperm is not the same thing as "autoimmune". Immunologic and autoimmune are NOT synonymous. HSM Let me know what you think about this Belle. Kristy :) Jacksonville, FL == http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/Falls/4659/kristyspage.html It's the little things that count with all of us ladies: flowers, candy, finding a good ob/gyn who will truly listen to us, and finding a cure for endometriosis.
