Re: Kristy's sitz...From: Kristy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Dec 31 18:54:35 1999
Elaine, I'm doing the sitz baths on the toilet. The water is warm, but I do not use the bag and tube that came with the pan. I do have plenty of privacy in the bathroom, and I do it for 15 to 20 minutes. To sit the way that I have to sit using this pan is uncomfortable b/c I can't get my vulvar part down in the pan properly without a lot of water. The dr did tell me of two options. The baking soda, and one other thing (that I can't remember the name) to put in the water. Yes, I guess the baking soda seems to help it especially during the time that I do the bath. As to why she recommended baking soda I have no idea, but I know that during the time when I used to douche the stuff that I used had baking soda in it, and I felt cleaner using the baking soda. I don't measure the amount of baking soda to water, and she didn't give me specifics for measurements. She just told me to try them, and add baking soda with it. As for our water bill it seems to run about $40 a month (3 people in my house), and of course if I use the tub more for purposes such as this then of course it will be more. Now I have another question for you. If the sitz baths need to be comfortable how am I going to be able to use the pan unless it's on the toilet?
