Penny,

I'm so sorry that you are having a hard time with the pain. I can answer your question about the continuous bcp since that is how I take mine. With continuous you take just the hormone pills (1st 3 weeks of pills) nonstop. By doing this it does suppress your period. This isn't like Lupron when it comes to the side effects that come from the menopause. Lupron has no estrogen in it which is why it has the ability to turn off the entire cycle and cause some to get side effects such as the hot flashes.

With the continuous bcp the body still has a cycle inwardly even though you don't get the visible signs like a normal period. I learned that from my dr just before my second laparoscopy back in June.

I've been taking my pills this way for 2 years now. What I do tend to get is breakthrough bleeding (bleeding that comes at other times) which can act very much like a menstrual period when it comes to cramping and the amount of blood that comes out.

I do have a problem with acne but that is b/c I have another hormone condition that contributes to the acne. I do hope that this new job of yours will work out, and that there won't be problems with getting ins.

Please don't feel that your questions are dumb. We all do the best that we can to answer them. I hope that I have been able to help you out a little bit, but if you still aren't sure I will be happy to explain it again. And of course I know that some of the others also might be able to help explain it even better than I can do.

Feel better soon.

It's the little things that count with all of us ladies: flowers, candy, finding a good ob/gyn who will truly listen to us, and finding a cure for endometriosis.
