Re: *ggggrrrrrr*From: anonymous@obgyn.netThu Sep 23 13:26:19 1999
I don't know how to help you in either case. I am fortunate in that my bosses are great and if I'm not feeling good they will let me go home. But, I can sympathize wholly with your situation with your mother. My mother-in-law had a complete hysterectomy(sp?) shortly after the birth of my husband due to endometriosis. But she never had a day of pain. Whenever I see her (which unfortunately is too often since she only lives a mile away), she is asking how come I am not well or why I'm not feeling good. I know she thinks I am a hypochondriac, but I've decided I don't care what she thinks. My husband is very supportive and understanding and that's what matters most. Fortunately, my own mother is understanding and supportive as well, too bad she lives 200 miles away. I know the Endometriosis Association has pamphlets to help people understand the disease. Maybe you could get some information for her to read. I tried with my mother-in-law, but she wasn't interested. I'm hurting, and I screwed into five hours of overtime. (as if the first nine hours of today weren't bad enough!) Does anyone have ANY SUGGESTIONS on how to make a skeptical boss understand what I'm going through? He looks at me and thinks I look fine, so I must just be trying to get out of work. *sighs* All the doctors and emergency room visits don't seem to convince him otherwise. And my family is even worse. My mother, who is a very traditional woman, says that "cramps are just our curse to bear... because EVE ate the apple." *sighs* How do I explain to her that this isn't just PMS, that my insides are as lumpy as the Rocky Mountains. How do I make her see that I'm not being whiny or a pain in the ass... I'm in very real pain. Please... I'm only 22 years old, and I really want (and need) their support. If it weren't for an extremely supportive and understanding boyfriend, I'd be in the loony bin by now... anybody? anything? Thanks in advance... 'lizabeth
