P.S... Larissa,

Did the doctor do a "freeze-section" of tissue so that any questionable areas could be quickly checked during the surgery? Sometimes when some abnormal-appearing cells are present, the doctor rushes this "freeze-section" to the pathologist so that if he/she thinks it looks suspicious, more tissue samples can be taken during the surgery to be sent for further, indepth testing. Maybe this is what your doctor did.
