Hi Stacey, I had a vaginal hyst in April, leaving the ovaries. Since I had not been diagnosed with endo at the time, I thought they would be fine and I didn't want to have to deal with the hormone replacement. For me, that may have been a mistake. For you, I guess it depends on your age and the health of your ovaries...and if you have endo. It is really important that you discuss and ask all these questions when meeting with your doc who will perform the surgery. I didn't ask nearly enough and didn't look around on the net until after my surgery. As far as pain meds, you will (or should be) taken care of quite well. I didn't have any pain except for a brief period right after surgery before they got the morphine going good. Also, when I went in it was with the understanding that if the doc did find problems with the ovaries, it may have turned into abdominal surgery. I wish I had the lap assisted, but knew nothing about it at the time. It is very hard for them to get a real good look vaginally. I hope this helps a little bit. I'll say a prayer for your surgery on Monday and some calming of your nerves between now and then. Again, please discuss all these things with your doc...I went in with so little knowledge that I felt a little silly afterwards. But I was very calm...maybe it was a good thing. :-) If you have any more questions that I can answer I would be happy to. Good luck! Lisa B.
