What exactly does it involve, how long of a hospitol stay, how long recovery time? Did it help your endo? Thanks in advance. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Carolyn >> Dear Carolyn, I had a laparotomy in Feb, and feel great, no more pain, no more painful periods, just regular, short periods :-) I feel confident that my doctor was able to remove all endo, because he used microlaser equipment (more expensive, but worth it to avoid later surgeries for endo implants too small to see without the equip). He did try to do a laparoscopy but I had extensive adhesions throughout my pelvic region, especially on my bowel, so it ended up a laparotomy, which we were aware could happen. I have a 6 inch scar, called a bikini line scar, just above the pubic bone. It was done as outpatient surgery, but I did stay overnight, about 20 hours, before he released me. It was painful, but there's alot of pain meds avail to help. I found darvocet works better than vicodin, lets me sleep somewhat, and dulls the pain. I slept on the couch for a week, because it was easier to get in and out of than our bed. Each day that passed I felt better, and stopped taking pain meds 4 days after surgery, and then just used Aleve. (I have problems sleeping with otc drugs for some reason). Four months after surgery, I feel really, really good physically, and am so glad I found my doctor, he is wonderful. Good luck to you, write me anytime, Debbie H
