Re: allergic to thyroid medication?

Hi ChinaRose!

I take thyroid too.

I would suggest asking your doctor to prescribe a different brand, or if your doctor has not been specific about brand, just ask your pharmacist for a different one to try. Although you are probably not allergic to the active ingredients, you may be allergic to one of the inactive ones, and different brands use different "binders" and other stuff. For example, Synthroid uses acacia as a binder. I am allergic to acacia pollens, as well as other tree and plant pollens. There are a number of different brands of thyroid medication -- hopefully you can find one that agrees with you better!

Good luck!
