Re: To AmyFrom: Allan (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Jun 19 19:09:15 1999
Hello Elaine Thanks so much for your response. It helps to know that I'm not the only one feeling this way. My spirits are better now, got most of the planting done, forced my self to do it, because I needed to do it, for me, you know? Sometimes I just get so mad about the endo and just have to made myself work through the pain so that the endo doesn't get the best of me. A large quantity of pain meds also helped me through the afternoon! :) As for lupron...after my first shot, I had some pain decrease for about a week, then the pain was back but not as bad as before the lap. The second shot gave me a pain decrease for about two weeks, then the pain was back. The third shot has given me no pain decrease, its been very bad the last couple weeks, and some days are as bad as or worse than before the lap. Some days I've had between 4 and 8 Tylenol 3. I was very frustrated and disappointed, because I kept hearing from the obgyn that it will get better, that sometimes it takes a couple months for the lupron to kick in. Last week I called the obgyn to ask if its supposed to be like this, asking what I could take or do, etc. The response was that the lupron is the best thing for this, and basically to just hang in there til my next appt on July 8th. I told them that I can't keep living like this, in so much pain; the T3 only just take the edge off, but they made me dopey so that's a good thing, but, I can't take T3 when I work, so eat OTC meds like candy. That's where things are at for me now. Sorry for babbling on so much. I think that all the other women on here are right when they say that you should be looking for another doc who is more experienced and knowledgeable about treating endo. What she said to you indicates that she really doesn't know what she's talking about. Nowhere have I read or heard that lupron absolutely starts working the first month, and if she know about endo she would not be suprised that you're still having pain. What kind of s/e are you having that she thinks indicate that the lupron is working? How long ago did you have your back etc checked out? If that route was nonproductive before, it likely will be again, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to get xrays done for your back to rule it out, but that wouldn't be my first option - I'd be wanting to find another obgyn and find out if that person also feels a further check is needed. Did I ramble on enough?! :) I'm really really tired, can you tell? Going to have some ice cream then hit the bed with a book. Hope your weekend is a good one, let me know how you're doing and if I can help at all. Painfree and happy wishes to everyone, luv, Amy
