Re: Scared, broke and in pain.From: Laura (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Jun 8 20:58:20 1999
<<Family Services told me it is a curable disease so they cannot help>> Pull copies of articles from the internet. They all state that Endo is incurable. Take them to Family services and fight for your rights. Demand a supervisor or manager speak to you, not a standard case worker. Next try applying for Social Security Disablility, hard to get but it has been done. Appeal and Appeal if you have too. This is a long process maybe 18 months before you get a hearing. You can research how to do it right on the internet and a lawyer is not always necessary. Next get very well aquainted with the ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act) Find out how it can help you with any job that you have or get in the future. Again this information is easily found on the internet. Look in your state for a Patient Advocacy Group. They may be able to help you. They may have more specific info on what you can do to get help or assist you with getting financial aid thru Family Services. Also research the Hill-Burton Act which pays for hospital bills when people are financally unable. See if you qualify just in case you have to have surgery while unemployed and uninsured. Hope this helps Laura
