Re: bowel function-food allergiesFrom: Joy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Apr 30 06:18:59 1999
Hi Debbie and other w/ bowel problems, I think that keeing track of foods you're eating is a great idea. I would suggest another idea, though. Instead of trying to eliminate things from your diet to find that possible culprit, only eat chicken broth for awhile (a day or two). Then add foods back in. this is a faster, more effective way to find a food that you may be allergic to. Foods may not effect you until a couple days later, so you may not be able to find the problem, or you could come to the conclusion that its an incorrect food. I have food allergies, and this is how my mom found out when I was young. She gave me chicken broth (beef or veggie is ok too) for a couple of days. Then she added one type of food every couple of days until she found it. Keep track of your reactions for up to three days after adding each food. It is very possible that you have a food allergy. I know that this sounds extreme, but you will either find the food that bothers you, or you'll find that you don't have a food allergy at all. You will prbably feel better eating very light foods anyway, if you're having bowel problems. Also, I always like to do my own tests before I go to the Doctor, that was I can eliminate problems before I go in. And I don't have to pay for them to figure something out. These are the things that give me a really upset stomach: wheat, dairy products, and sugar. There was a discussion a while ago about the correlation between endo and allergies...I think its valid! My friend is sensitive to corn, in any form, even corn syrup. I would strongly suggest totally eliminating grains and dairy foods at first, if the broth idea is too extreme! Then you can do your own tests! Good luck! I hope you all feel better soon! I know how miserable it is to have another "unsolved mystery" going on in your body! Feel free to e-mail me privately if you have any questions! hey-yady@pacbell.net Love to all! Joy in CA anonymous@obgyn.net wrote:
