Hi Carolyn,

I know what you are feeling. After my first lap in Dec. 98 it suddenly hit me that the endo was real. Seeing the pictures from my lap and knowing about all the tissue they cut out was very disturbing for me at first. In my case I think I have grown to accept the situation, that is I have sort-of redefined myself in a way. That might sound silly, but I guess what I'm really saying is that it just takes a little time. What helped me the most was meeting women on this forum and reading, reading, reading. For me, having knowledge about the situation makes me feel empowered and consequently safer. I am still trying to see myself as the one who makes all the decisions about my health and to not feel as though I am at the whim of doctors who may or may not know the answers. Have you done much reading about endo? What are the things you worry about? Please feel free to email me personally. I'd be happy to listen, and one thing, don't think you are being silly about your fears. I often convince myself that my fears are silly, but you know what, they're not! love,

Holly in AZ
