Lasinda, I too had/have some of the same fears for some of the same reasons (I'm pretty sure). I didn't feel comfortable having a male doc but after I met with him the first time and talked to him I felt ok enough to continue treatment with him. If you want to give him a chance then do so and if you find after meeting with him that you don't feel comfortable you have the right to decide not to continue treatment with him and seek another doc. We all have our own ways of overcoming our fears and what works for one may/may not work for another. If you would like to talk more feel free to email me privately.
