According to my medical dictionary, leiomyomas (uterine) are smooth muscle fibromas (i.e. fibroids of the uterus) , also: "although their cardinal symptoms are supposed to be dysmenorrhea (painful periods), menorrhagia (very heavy periods), these are found infrequently and the symptomatology is directly related to the location of the tumors in the uterus. Thus, tumors that encroach on the bladder region cause frequency (frequent urination) and dysuria (painful urination); those pressing on the rectum can cause rectal pain, those that encroach upon the endometrium cause menorrhagia and dysmenorrhea, and very large growths may be absolutely symptomless. Hope this helps.
