lupron to diagnose endoFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Mar 12 14:14:34 1999
For Christie: Hi there! I'm another endo sufferer, contemplating a 3 mth run of Lupron. I've read A LOT on this topic, trying to decide what to do and still am not sure. One thing I am sure of, though, is that use of Lupron will NOT diagnose endo, the only thing that diagnoses is laparoscopy. Lupron does not work for everyone with endometriosis, so saying that if it doesn't work means that you don't have endo makes absolutely no sense. Lupron, by the way, its also used for prostate cancer, as well as to treat fibroids. My sister did the Lupron for fibroids; she had all the side effects of menopause but it didn't help the bleeding; she soon after had a hysterectomy, due to fibroids so big that her uterus was more that three times the normal size. Would a doc say that she didn't have fibroids because the Lupron didn't help? One thing I'm curious about and haven't asked my doc yet is this: How likely am I to have the same side effects from Lupron that my sister did? Does anyone out there have a sister who also used Lupron? What kind of results? Thanks! Have a happy day, Amy
