FatigueFrom: DAP (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun Feb 28 18:47:04 1999
Has anybody wondered why they try everything and no matter what you still feel fatigued?? I just read something about the zinc and copper balance in our bodies that has to do with fatigue. Experts have found that our cells require a precise balance of copper and zinc to provide us with energy. Fatigue is the most common result when the balance is off, but many of us also experience mirgraines, insomnia, anxiety and mood swings. Doctors say we need 1.5 to 3 mg. of copper to make everything from red blood cells to bone-strengthing collagen. But "the average American now gets up to five milligrams daily." And studies show that over time, copper builds up in our tissues, interfering with nutrients that would otherwise prompt our cells to turn the food we eat into energy. Besides limiting your intake of high-copper culprits like shellfish and tofu there are other ways to balance the zinc/copper in our bodies. The article also gives 9 questions for you to answer and the more you answer yes to the more likely that your zinc/copper ratio is out of wack. If anyone wants to know what the article says to do or would like the 9 questions just let me know and I will post it.
