Re: Jennifer to ChrisFrom: Melissa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Feb 26 17:00:20 1999
Chris- Why won't your gyn do a hysterectomy. I am 26 and have no children and am pushing for my gyn to have a hysterectomy. In Dec, I found out that I have adenomyosis. My pain and bleeding has gotten progressively worse. I refuse to go on Lupron. BCP's are not an option with adeno. I am trying natural progesterone. I told my gyn that I will give the treatment six months. I write him letters on a continual basis documenting the degree of pain, the interruption of my life. For me it is a quality of life issue. I have had all pelvic endometriosis removed, my last lap had no pelvic endo, just adeno. Did you explain to your doctor that it is a quality of life issue. I e-mailed Donna Laux at the ECC and asked if they had any treatment for adeno, she said there is nothing surgically that can be done except hysterectomy. It is ironic that up until this point I have been told to have a hysterectomy and now that my husband and I have made the decision I have to beg and plead. My doctor does understand from the letters I have written him, how much I suffer. I have attempted suicide to get rid of endo pain. Anyway, just keep pushing or find a doctor who understands the quality of life issues. I am not on Depot-Provera yet but more than likely will be. I am on bcp's right now and they are not working. I am having break through ovulation and have cysts again. My GYN wants to try provera because it is stronger than bcp's. I am to the point where I am trying anything and everything to keep from having a hyst which actually I would prefer a hyst but my GYN wont do it. I know a hyst is not a cure-all but it is worth a try to me. I live in daily pain and sometimes severe enough to where I can barely function. Thanks for letting me know! Chrissy
