A Major Vent :<[From: Christine (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Feb 26 14:52:30 1999
Okay, I just came from my pcp. The visit was scheduled for a check of my bp medication, but was indirectly related to endo/adhesions which I'll explain in a minute. He was running very late, the office was a disaster, I'm sure all of you can picture the scene. He rushes through the questions, takes my bp. I planned to also tell him about the adhesion pain flaring up *again* because I want to start taking a fairly large dose of ibuprofen and I've read that the NSAIDS can make blood pressure medication ineffective. So, the conversation goes something like this. "I wanted to ask you about a referral for a gyn exam, since its about time. I've lost my gynecologist" That took a few minutes to explain. Then comes the thing that blew me away. He asks "do you have gyn problems.?" Excuse me? I say. (you can imagine what I'm thinking at this point) He repeats himself "Do you have gyn problems.?" I was flabbergasted and say very sarcastically, Well, not life threatening ones but I *have* had problems. (thinking you mean you don't remember why I've been coming to your office for almost 2 years and why I had 2 laparoscopies 6 months apart.) He misses the tone of my voice. Next I tell him who I want to see. Then he says Ok, just call his office and get back to me. By this time I've forgotten about the ibuprofen for pain. I mumbled something like "well, I don't want you to be surprised when you get the report from him telling you that I am having pain from the adhesions again." He doesn't hear a word I am saying. He closes with "Super, just call his office. No problem." I've lost my gynecologist of 21 years, now I want a new pcp too. This is disgusting. Sorry this is so long. You are the only people I could tell this too who would understand. Thanks Chris S.
