Anne, Depo-Lupron is used for children that have Precocious Puberty (early puberty). At age 2 1/2 my daughter was diagnosed with Cancer, a Brain Tumor around the Optic Nerve and the Pituitary Gland. She had a 10 1/2 hour brain surgery where the Pituitary Gland was somehow trigard during surgery for Kayla to begin Puberty. We were told ahead of time that this could happen and they did several tests to check it. At age 3 she began developing breast tissue and pubic hair so unless I wanted a 12 - 13 year old developmentally but a 3 year old at heart we had no choice but to put her on Lupron. All children that are medically treated for Precocious Puberty take Lupron. Just as it stops our periods and basically puts us in a menopause state it does the same with children except it stops puberty. She will have to take Lupron until she is 8 years old. I have done more studies ref children on Lupron and most children, because they are so young while taking it, regain whatever they may have lost unlike us because we are already to mature to regain bone loss etc. Every 3 months she has X-Rays to have a Boneage done to make sure her bones are developing as they should and so far she has been right on target. Sometimes children taking Lupron also have to take growth hormones but so far we have been lucky and she has not had to. I hope this answers your questions. Feel free to E-Mail me again if I didn't answer all of your questions. Chrissy
