Re: Lupron Cost / InsuranceFrom: Anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Feb 26 12:07:02 1999
Hi Rebecca I am in Canada so I don't know if you can use this info for your research, but I think the system is very different here. My mom's health insurance paid for 80% of my Lupron costs, but they required me to submit a doctor's letter to prove why I am using it. My doctor wrote a letter stating that I was not taking it to treat infertility (she thinks it's none of their business why I'm taking it) and they made me get another letter saying why I'm using it. So I had to get another letter (and I have to pay the clinic for every letter I get). This company will only pay for one 6 month course of Lupron, end of story. No repeats, no extended treatment. But I will say that Lupron here is cheaper, at least where I found it. I called around and the cheapest for a lupron depot (3.75 mg) kit is 320$ Canadian. which, as some of you may know, is currently about 200$ U.S. hahaha. Anne :)
