adhesions on ultrasoundsFrom: Christine (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Feb 8 10:39:20 1999
Ultrasound is not reliable for showing adhesions, but it is still possible for something to show that could make the doctor suspicious of adhesions. It's just not reliable-in other words, if "negative" you can't say the person doesn't have adhesions. Twenty years ago I had a hysterosalpingogram done and that is an x-ray of the uterus and tubes with dye. With that they were able to tell me I had a "mat of adhesions" covering the left side of my pelvis, which is what they found 20 years later on a lap. But the ultrasounds I had (3 of them) before my first lap were basically "negative" except for small endometriomas on both ovaries. Chris S.
