Hi Toni:

Imipramine and elavil (amitryptilene) are in the same CLASS of drugs called tricyclic antidepressants. Nortryptilene (pamelor) is also in the same class. I hated elavil, stopped it right away. I felt like a zombie. A doctor (the neurologist I saw for leg pain) told me that elavil is the most sedating of the group. i never took pamelor.

One of the complaints I had about imipramine and this was at the high dose for panic disorder is that it made me feel "hung over" all morning. After awhile, after having gotten used to no panic attacks, I got tired of feeling dragged out for the morning, so I stopped them. I only took it for 3 months that's how well it worked. This was back in 1983 and I haven't had a panic attack since, except for the mini one when I first started zoloft.

As far as sleeping late, enjoy it!

I had no side effects at the low dose for chronic pain, except for the first week or two when I felt sort of spacey.

I am doing okay, but sometimes I think it is just a matter of time before the adhesions act up again. I still get reminders and can't help but wonder if they are going to stay this way or get worse. Right now its tolerable, except that it keeps my mind on it because it keeps reminding me.

Chris
