Rebecca - Delayed DiagnosisFrom: Chrissy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Jan 28 12:01:42 1999
I had a delayed diagnosis. I am 30 and was just finally diagnosed with Endo in June of '98. In 1991 I had a Lap by a doc who is now deceased. He diagnosed me with PID. I had three other laps between '93 and '96 just to be told there was nothing wrong with me. I pried and pried at my GYN for her to do another Lap. She kept telling me it was not necessary. I finally started doing my own research and was certain that I had Endo. I wrote my doc a five page typed letter explaining all of my Endo symptoms. Even after all that she told me I was to young to have Endo (was 29) and that Endo was on the bottom of her "totem pole". After much ado that is to lengthy to go into detail here, I finally got her to do the lap. She found the Endo, finally. She told me several things I did not agree with and was completely opposite from everything I had read in the Endo Sourcebook. I changed doctors. I am now mostly satisfied with my care though I wish something could be done about this d__n pain. Sometimes it is so annoying like right now I feel like screaming. I filed a complaint with the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners about my old GYN and it is still under investigation. I was so mad at the over 7 years of feeling like I was crazy because the three doctors I went to would not listen to me and was behind or lacking the knowledge of Endo. I hope your having a good day! Chrissy
