Re: AdenomyosisI MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELPFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netThu Jan 28 06:03:16 1999
adenomyosis is a disease of the uterus that affects the walls and glands of the uterus, it causes heavy bleeding and there is no real cure for this other than having your uterus taken out. Adenomyosis is not a well known disease either, and can confuse other symptoms like in my case. A year after my 4th child was born i started to experience very bad cramps at the time of my cycle, lower back pain and bowel problems i tryed to get answers from 3 different doctors and they all had different answers. One doctor said i had a tired womb and should consider a hysterectomy and this was without even doing extensive tests. Another doctor said i would suspect u had endometriosis however u are bleeding heavy every month so i dont think its that, again no testing. Finally i went to a female gyn specialist and she said she could feel something but i was too young to have a hysterectomy, by now i was 33yrs old and very unwell. So i went unchecked, and become more ill by the month, I wont go into all the details as its a long story but 6 weeks ago i had a radical hysterectomy and the doctor found that my ovaries were diseased with chocolate cysts i was in phase 4 of endometriosis which had adhered to my bowel/bladder and stomach and when the pathology report came back it was then known that i also had adenomyosis (my uterus was the size of a 6 month pregnancy). This has had a devastating affect on me as a mother and wife in more ways than i can say, and i might also add that i also have suffered hair loss over a long period of time begining at the time my symptoms became noticable . I will help you in anyway i know how as i would not want anyone else to go through what i have been through. Please do not hesitate to contact me at anytime kind regards kim :)
