Take care all! > >Toni a battle I cannot win! Hi Toni: Something you said jogged my memory-you had panic attacks after taking the dose of Paxil. I remember I had a panic attack (a mini one) after the first or second dose of Zoloft! I told the doctor and he just kind of nodded, like it happens. It never happened again. I would worry about the heart rate, 125 is not great. As for the other side effects (such as nausea) you are going to have to be more patient and ride it out. Ask everyone who takes a lot of drugs-they have a lot of side effects and it takes awhile to iron out the problems. Did you ask the pain management clinic "Do you want me to take the paxil if my heart rate is above whatever?" Is this a problem? If they say no, it isn't, then I guess it isn't. I know it feels scary. What was it about elavil that you didn't like? The sedation will wear off, so they tell me. I didn't give it much of a chance myself. You never tried imipramine. Maybe that would be tolerable? When I started it up again after the first lap when I panicked because I thought my leg pain returned, it did kind of make me a bit of a zombie, but not too bad. The first time I took it at higher doses I was a complete zombie for aabout a week. The way I look at it-it's a trade off. Which is worse? The drug's side effects or what you are trying to treat? In the case of panic disorder, I chose the drug to be much better than panic attacks. I also believed it would improve, and it did. In the case after the first lap, with the leg pain, I decided that the leg pain was better than the drug. Narcotic pain killers are not without their side effects either. I think I remember you saying the percocet helped, but did not eliminate the pain entirely. Plus, it kind of puts your mind in a fog-I think you said it made you not care. This is okay for short term pain relief, when you can be foggy for a short period of time, but on a long term basis I would think it would be annoying. That seems to be most people's criticism of narcotics-they can't think clearly. As I said, it's a trade off, it seems nothing is easy. Please do not stop the pain management (assuming insurance says okay) without giving it a chance. Chris
