In need of supportFrom: Angie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Jan 19 18:45:54 1999
I am 25 years old, married, and have a 5 year old daughter. I have had ovarian cysts, and have had surgery for polyps on my cervix. Since the fall, I have been having terrible pain in the area of my ovaries and lower abdomen - for months now the pain gets worse. I had gone into the ER because of this pain, and they did blood, urine, upper and lower GI, ultrasound, and many other tests, only to find nothing. I was beginning to think I was going crazy. No one seemed to be able to help me. During the first few days of my last period, the pain became unbearable. I went to my OB/GYN again, and he now thinks I have endometriosis. I had never heard of this before, and went online to do some research. This is what brought me to find this group. Before this started, I used to think of myself as a very strong person... now I am very frustrated and scared. I was beginning to think no one would figure out what was going on with me. They kept finding nothing, but my pain kept getting worse. My doctor has scheduled a laparascopy and possible laparotomy for next Thursday & has tried two different pain medicaitons. I am scared that this will be something that will affect our desire to have more children or that I will have to live with this pain for a long time - I have heard that endometriosis continues to come back, even after therapies and treatments. I am looking for some wisdom and any information anyone might have that has once stood in my shoes. I have a feeling I am in for a long trip, and don't want to face this alone. Angie
