Toni, No you may write a 10 page letter to me if you wish,I don't mind one bit..I always try to help if I possible can. I found with PM that they are a total different class of doctors.they deal with pain patients every day of their lives,so how they treat patients is different, they don't question the fact that you are in pain, they know if you are going to see them, your doctor wanted you to see them.PM doctor's usually keep a running tab with your referring doctor. They usually let them know all what they do for treatments and get their feed back on it..Treatment wise my doctor will let them figure out what is best for me..Surgery has to be oked by him first though. He wants to be informed with everything they do..So its usually an open communication between the two. Yes you will see a nurse,Mine was a good 30 minutes.they ask you many questions.Rate your pain, where does it hurt, when did it start, what helps to relieve your pain,How to cope with pain ect..I told them I the computer helps my pain mentally, which they also feel mental health is a big key in your pain..If the mind is healthy the body will be a little healthy, surely it doesn't control all your pain, but your main pain sensor is in the brain.. They asked me if I would object to any treatments they offered.Said nope do what you want.they may want to try many things, mine wanted to try chiropractors,therapy,accupuncture.ect..They want to figure out a way to at least control your pain, they cannot always take your pain away, but you give you options to help you deal with your pain, both physically and mental. They may prescribe physcial therapies, massages ect..massage treatments help temp for me,most of the time.Sometimes it flares things up,but when they massage they are trying to break up that are and get extra blood flow back to those area's where the pain is in.. You may have to hang tough for awhile and deal with some piddley treatments even if they seem off the wall, but mine said they give a 3 week limit max on all treatments if that doesn't work they move on to a new one.. Usually blood test will be run by your doctor. They do minor physical exams.at least mine do.I can't say for all PM clinics only the one i go too.they do all vidals each time i go in..they may feel the pain area, see if they can feel inflammation, they don't poke and prod too much, figure you have had all this done by your doctor.. I was too very nerved up when i went to them, same thing like you,You get so sick and tired of having to justify your pain, but i was releaved when I didn't have to have to fight to say I am in Pain..Dont me shy,If you need pain meds ask, they may not offer them unless you do ask..Let them know where it hurts everywhere. If you occasionally have back aches, leg aches let them know..write it all down if you have to on a piece of paper and hand it to them,I do this now and then when I see doctors cuz I get side tracked and then I leave and say darn i meant to say this hurt ect..so now i will write it down hand them the paper say read..lol..good luck sweetie let me know how it goes.Hope i answered some of your questions..I have had a positive experience, most of my friends that I know that have gone or are going all have positive feedback..My first appt with them was 3 hours long..Just to give you a time, yours may or may not be..but they surely don't rush you in and out..
