test for adhesions???From: Toni (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Jan 1 17:54:49 1999
Has anyone ever heard of a test to check for adhesions on the bowel, and if they are causing problems? The one goofy general surgeon the one who said he did 25 abdominal surgeries on a patient, where they put a gastric tube down your nose and to your bowel and blow gas and a flourescent liguid and I guess some sort of exray while they do this> My gyn had a major fit when I told him about this, I told him I would rather he do a laparoscopy than to have something done like this, the way I understand it they do not even put you to sleep, cause they ask where the pain is when they do it, I would think this test would make you pretty sick, I asked if it was painful and he said why of course, this guy i did not care for, I guess I am so tired of different drs saying differnt things, my gyn has taken care of me for awhile, and he understands how fast adheisons form in my body, but he does not know what else to do, I am not feeling good at all, and find it hard to believe that this is all from adhesions, but he says it is, I dont think he would have written a letter to try to get ins. to cover me for PM clinic till they can figure out what to do. I do not want no more surgery, unless it would help in the future, but i want to feel better!!!!! I trust my gyn. the most, and would not let any other dr. operate, unless emergency, if it comes to that, but I will not even consider a general surgeon wrapping bowel, unless my gyn would assist! I trust him to lyse adhesions, at least the new GI dr said the gyn had to operate again in sept. cause his patient was in pain, and the bowel could have been smothered, and it may have lost its bloos supply, and I think I know what happens if that were to happen!
