Kimmi- Antidepressants for chronic pain

Hi Kimmi-

I am very interested in the endo-fibromyalgia connection. The latest theory is that there is a connection. Do you know anything about this?

Amitryptiline is much more sedating than imipramine. I tried the amitryptiline and couldn't tolerate it, even at the 10mg dose. I couldn't stand it. However, since fibromyalgia really seems to be affected by sleep quality, taking it before bedtime might help with sleep and that might help with the fibromyalgia. Some people have also had help with plain old benadryl, which is often used as a sleep medication in the hospital. As you said, the amitryptiline is also used for pain control. It's odd how they work. I took darvocet for the leg pain I had with no affect. Yet it disappeared on the imipramine! Now they would probably offer me Ultram, but I don't think it was on the market then.
