Surgery cancelled; allergy?

Endo Friends, I have had a very difficult few months seeing doctors and deciding to have surgery. NOw I have had two surgery cancellations and am frustr5ated beyond belief!! I just need ot vent now and find out if anyone has ever had a similar problem. This was my second lap (the 1st was 5 yearrs ago, with Lupron 2 yrs ago). It was cancelled the night before b/c the dr. had injured himself and was in surgery himself that day. My mother had come from Mass. to Virginia to take care of me and I and my boyfriend had taken the week off work. I was thoroughly devastated b/c we had all gone to such trouble and becuasse I was a basket case of fear and nerves about the whole procedure. I rescheduled for the week after Christmas (this past Tuesday). Now, I cut my vacation short by 8 days for this and my Mom could nbot come back to care for me so again, my boyfriend and I took time off work and got ready to go. Once I got there I was prepped and ready and then had a horrible reaction to the antibiotic that they put in my IV (Ancef). I started sneezing, then just filled up and had a really hard time breathing. The only thing that I have ever reacted like that to was a cat. And I developed an annoying allergy to Amoxycillen last year (but only got a slight rash). This reaction was instant and very sever. Immediately they stopped it and gave me Benadryl and Zantac. it took an hour and a half before I could breathe well again. Of course, the dr. cancelled the surgery and told me to go see an allergist before I come back for another (3rd) try so they know just wahat I am allergic to and what they can give me. He said that knowing about my amoxyicillen allergy, there was only an 8% risk of this reaction happening. To make matters worse, the discharge nurse who pulled out my IV just before I left (while I was still dopey ona sedative and benadryl) got into her endo story about how surgery never worked for her and how awful Lupron was and that she could never conceive and finally had to have a hysterectomy. She almost had tears in her eyes. Ladies, I am very sympathetic to fellow sufferers, but I was livid that she dumped that on me when I was trying my best not to cry in pain and frustration and fear about facing another surgery. I thought that was so insensistive and inappropriate. My boyfriend go me out quickly and then I let it go the whole way home. I am so frustrated and exhausted from dealing with the stress and fear of surgery that I can't even think about rescheduling right now. What I wonder is if anyone has ever had sucha reaction to any drugs, and if anyone knows if developing allergies like this could be a side effect from Lupron. I know that it can damage the immune system and I wonder if that's why I have developed allergies int he last couple of years (which I have never had my entire life!) or is it from the endo, or is it just that I'm getting older? I welcome andy support or ideas. I'm drained and still in pain and so frustrated. Thank you all for being on the forum and listening. Tiina
