Re: [Weight Changes Due to Endo]

Robin-

Wow, that sounds exactly like what happened to me. I was diagnosed with endometriosis at the age of 18. Up until that point I had a cute little figure and weighed in at a very healthy and athletic 140. This was even 5lbs under my doctor's ideal weight for me. After treatment for the endo and the years of the disease itself I am 220lbs. I too have dieted, eaten healthy and exercised to no avail. I don't eat junk food all that often and I never have it in my house. But still, I gain weight. After my first major endo surgery, a laparotomy, my disease went into a remission of sorts and I was symptom free and like magic I dropped to 160lbs. I didn't change anything but the weight just came off as quickly and as mysteriously as it came on. My weight was actually one of the things that told me the endo was coming back. It crept back and took over again and my weight also escalated.

So, I don't know if that helps you at all but for what it's worth I can really empathize. Doesn't it suck? Not only do we have a painful and debilitating disease that many people can not even begin to understand so they just get fed up with us because we can't handle the pain of measly little "cramps", but a symptom and side effect of that disease also causes uncontrollable weight gain. That weight gain is alos something that society is not too forgiving about. If we say that it is not our fault and that it is part of the disease for some women they just shake their heads because we are in denial and not taking responsibility for our weight problem.

Best wishes to you. I hope that you continue to feel great.
