I'm not exactly pain free. I have some reminders that everything is not as it should be in the lower abdomen/pelvis. I still have some pain, but nothing like I did before the laps. I know from past experience that the pain could return, although it was definitely not as bad as yours is. I have no idea what the future holds so am keeping my fingers crossed. Obstruction? who knows, it could happen. The surgeon was optimistic that this last procedure should take care of the problem but quickly added "with adhesions, you never know." I am amazed about what someone wrote about a general surgeon saying adhesions don't cause pain and it's all in a patient's head. That is absurd. This surgeon of mine said that some people have adhesions really bad (they find them when doing surgery for something else) and have NO pain from them, others have lots of pain, and they don't know why this happens. I guess it is just like endo-my gyn told me 20 years ago that problems caused by endo are all "individual." Some women can have a lot of it, with little pain, and others just have a little bit of endo, but it happens to be in an area that causes major discomfort. I don't know about cutting nerves-I've heard that done in the pelvis, I think they call it presacral neurectomy and LUNA-something uterine nerve ablation. Something like that. Have you asked the surgeon how often he does this and what the general outcome is? I asked my surgeon if surgery is *ever* successful for adhesions and he said "Sure, why else would be keep doing it?" But then he added "However, no guarantees." It's really hard facing surgery with this type of outlook!
