Cassandra, I don't have endometriosis, but I do have chronic pain caused by post-surgical adhesions...and this kind of chronic pain is just as painful, if not more painful, as endometriosis.

Amitriptyline (generic of Elavil) helped me when* NO OTHER DRUG* would. I have been taking amitriptyline since 1975!

Today amitriptyline is recognized as being a dual drug...in that it helps depression and it helps to relieve pain. Amitriptyline also helps a person get restful sleep! I am currently taking 100mgs just before bedtime.

One of the side effects is a dry mouth, but sugarless gum takes care of that nicely.

There are blood level tests that will tell the doctor and patient if he/she is getting a *therapeutic dose* of this medication...and this is so important. Unless you are getting a therapeutic dose, you are not going to get the benefits from this medication.
