Re: [Question.....??????]From: Lady (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Dec 4 07:40:40 1998
toni, I don't know if you are talking about the statement I made about nerve damage or something someone else mentioned. So incase it was me, I will tell you what I know. I have nerve damage in my ribs from a thorax surgery. I was told that they damaged them instead of killing them. Now my ribs feel like they are broken all the time. A specialist told me that he could in fact kill the nerve for me, then he proceeded to tell me how it could be done. They can take a local ana. and inject it into the painful area. They will do this over and over until the pain is gone. If an injection removes the pain, they have found the right nerve. Then they can inject meds that will in fact kill the nerve. The bad part was, thay said it could take 1 - 100 injections to find the right nerves. Plus they will only do this if there is nerve damage, they won't do it to just get rid if pain. I hope that this helps you? Robin
