Pain MappingFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netMon Nov 30 19:34:06 1998
Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well. I hope that you all had a good Thanksgiving. I just wanted to vent a little. The last three/four days have been awful for me. I usually don't have too much pain the first week after my period but this month has been particularly bad. It's only been six days since it ended and I have been in agony. Do any of you have this kind of pain this soon after menstruation? Anyhow, last night I wound up calling the emergency number at my specialist's office and luckily a doctor that I have seen before was on call. She told me that she wanted me to see the endo specialist today (my original appointment was for 12/14/98). I managed to get in to see him and it was really great. He is a super nice guy. Although I've know that I have endo for about 6 months he will be the one to finally do some surgery. So far they have just given me 5/500 hydrocodone every six hours (too strong for me and doesn't really help with the pain). He is suggesting that we do something called pain mapping during the lap. Has anyone else had this? If so, how painful is it? He said that it was ultimately up to me but I want to find out something about it first. My lap is scheduled for the last week of December (joy). Also, do many of you also have abnormal pap smears? I have not had a normal one in 2 years. My regular gyn doesn't seem to be concerned about this. She usually says "Just come back in 6 months". Should I be concerned? Thank you very much for reading all of this. Take care of yourselves, Alison
