Evening Primrose Oil contains a rich supply of essential fatty acids (EFAs). Evening Primrose Oil has been shown to relieve symptoms of PMS and Endo. Evening Primrose Oil owes much of its beneficial action to the presence of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), the most active omega-6 fatty acid. GLA acts as a precursor to the prostaglandin which aids immune function and reduces inflammatory conditions. According to several studies published in the Journal of Reproductive Medicine, it is confirmed that the use of Evening Primrose Oil decreases PMS symptoms, including depression and irritability. Scientists surmise that a dificiency of GLA may trigger over sensitivity to the hormone, prolactin, which can lead to many PMS related problems. Researchers who have studied the effects of Evening Primrose Oil for almost 20 years suggest supplementation as a first choice for alleviating the pain of FIBROCYSTIC BREAST DISEASE. The best whole food source of GLA, other than human milk is spirulina. GLA acts as an anti- inflammatory.

I have been taking Evening Primrose Oil for more than four months along with Red Rasberry (good for strengthening the uterus to prepare for pregnancy and can be used safely throughout entire pregnancy), Dong Quai (only use Dong Quai from the first day of your period until ovulation, Dong Quai can help with fertility issues and egg production) and Natural Progesterone Cream (days 6 - 26 of cycle only).
