I too carry a small suitcase of drugs to get through the day. I've been taking ambien for 3months. My bedtime cocktail includes 1/2 an ambien (or 5mg) and 2 flexeril and a good book. After you've been on them for a while you'll find it takes a little longer to knock you out. For pain I'll take whatever I can get to first. But your right nothing seems to"really" get rid of the pain. It just makes you not care about it as much. good luck!
