Dear Yenta, You have a lot of interesting ideas. Since I am an impatient patient, I also have some theories. We raise aquarium fish at home, and they can get a disease called blood spots. It is on their skin (which is constantly exposed to water) and is caused by a bacterial infection. If not treated with an antibiotic immediately, it can spread. Now, as a child I had strep throats, strep in my abdomen (diagnosed by stool samples), and when I was 21 had to have my tonsils removed. I also had a major infection in my uterus, although they didn't name the bacteria. (I think sometimes they only take samples if it is a comparatively minor cold.) I had adhesions later on the side where I had had my strep infection (left... if it was my right they would have opened me up and taken out my appendix). But my gyn said the adhesions were due to endo, and I had current endo all over my right side! I wrote to some old friends in NYC (Brooklyn Aquarium Society) about the fish spot theory because some of them are biologists, and do research. I am not a medical person at all either, but through the fish hobby know stuff like ammonia in water caused by bacterial toxins that cause problems, gram positive or gram negative antibiotics, PH balance, etc. I think many doctors do not think of the body as an environment enough, but those glossy pictures of my abdomen sure looked like the insides of a fish tank to me, and if there are toxins being produced as byproducts of bacterial action, these toxins would cause major pain and damage. I read somewhere that viruses tend to hide themselves in spinal fluid; which is why if you ever had chicken pox you can get shingles in old age. I wonder if endo cells or things that cause endo to grow such as irritating agents hide themselves somewhere other than the uterus. Fish hobbiests tend to discuss biology without a license. I can't get carried away, I'm stuck with this bod! Elizabeth
