Funny, I couldn't stand NOT to be elevated with wedge pillows. When flat, I couldn't breathe, and the pain in my abdomen was unbearable. I felt better in a few days, though, and could resume the flat position. I guess it depends whether or not pain is caused by gas or by other problems. Elizabeth
