He had thought that my dad (who called him after I called in tears to say that my doctor wouldn't see me but that I could come in to get my first shot of Lupron since I was having such a hard time of it) was just being an overprotective/overly emotional father, and that I would have a completely different story: I didn't. I'm scheduled for a lap in two weeks. Thanks for listening and also letting me vent. Best wishes to all!
