Re: Info seekingFrom: Lorianne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Nov 5 10:14:39 1998
Chelsey, It seems like a reasonable plan. If it doesn't work, you can try something else. There is a daily nasal spray though that you could take and stop the effects sooner than a monthly or worse 12 week injection dosage. Once you've had the shot, well you can't take it back and you must deal with whatever way your body decides to react with Lupron. I had taken the monthly shot... it lasted at least six weeks on me, despite taking hormones to cancel it. However, other women have done very well on Lupron. You won't really know until you try. Do some more scientific research on it and even more importantly (in my opinion) learning about other women's experiences on this drug. Never give up trying to find something that helps you cope. After 26 years, I found something for me. I encourage everyone to learn about all options, then pick and try. Most importantly BE INFORMED. Don't go in blind. Had I known that there was a daily dosage available instead of just the monthly and quarterly injections, I would have chosen the nasal spray until I felt confident about the long-term dose question. Also, continuous BCPs worked for me for a while. I wasn't pain free, but I felt better on them than off. And now that I've found the ticket for me, I'm only just beginning to realize what normal means. Time will tell if the program will be life-long, but I'm very encouraged by the results so far. Most importantly I have no warnings, contraindications, or precautions to worry about that the other methods I used had. There are no known adverse side effects to natural progesterone, and gives me mental peace. If it continues to work for me I can use it for the rest of my life without fear. I know we all will find something that will help us, we must be brave and willing to try while being fully informed. Being completely informed is key!! It isn't fair to our minds and bodies to not fully investigate something first. And I find having a back-up plan is helpful too. My best to you with whatever decision you come to make. Please share your experience with whatever method you choose to use. Take care, Lor -----Original Message----- From: anonymous@obgyn.net [mailto:anonymous@obgyn.net On Behalf Of CHELSEY M. BAKER Sent: Monday, November 02, 1998 5:43 PM To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: Info seeking I saw a new doc today--great guy. Finally someone who would not only talk to me, but listen too. He suggested a 3-month course of Lupron, followed by continuous birth control pills. He also said that if I'm not happy w/how I feel on Lupron (side effects, no releif, etc.) that giving me bc pills or other hormones will negate the effects of the Lupron (so I don't have to suffer through the whole dose). Has anyone tried this (both the short course of Lupron, and "canceling" the Lupron mid-course)? Please let me know asap. I have some major reservations about taking the drug, but I don't wan't to rule out reasonable treatments. The pain is driving me nuts--I have to make a decision soon. Thanks. Best--Chelsey
