Shaleena, you hit a truth cord with me. Many years ago when I was disabled due to multiple migraines in a week. The Cafergot helped ward off the pain setting in if I got it into my system during the visual disturbance phase. I never did take Reglan though. I was on a beta blockers of various kinds for a while, the one I was on the longest was called Inderal. I also took Naproxen, it too helped. But, if I didn't get these into me fast enough to ward a migraine off before it really set in, I had Percocet as a standby.

I feel fortunate that I no longer get these horrible headaches. I believe getting my hormones balanced better made the difference for me, because when I went off the progesterone for a month, I had to resort to my migraine meds on one occasion during that month to avoid a migraine from taking hold. But, instead, I got a tension headache that lasted several days. (It was still there whenever meds wore off.) Once my period came on I could only handle the first day... the pain escalated and I smeared the progesterone all over where ever it hurt. That turned out to be like a triple dose or so. I then continued with the normal dose for the following days, which were tolerable without pain meds. And, no more signs of migraines.

But before finding out about progesterone, I think I never would have lived through the migraines without the Cafergot, Naproxen, and daily Inderal.

I wish my doctor had showed me a schedule like you did here. It would have been helpful to know just how many I could take when. Instead, my neurologist left me to experiment with what doses and intervals seemed to work best for me... And that made me nervous, you know... wondering if I was ever taking too much too soon. But, I did what I needed to do. My teens and twenties were the worst times for me. I got pregnant at thirty after doing an herbal routine. The herbal routine got me off the migraine meds and the pregnancies that followed one right after another kept me migraine free until 1998. I went back on all kinds of meds earlier this year, then in June, I started progesterone cream out of desperation because of a terrible Lupron failure for me.

But, if those migraines ever haunted me again... I'd be going back to the regimen I know helps. Again, thanx for sharing.

Sunshine, Lor

I don't know if anyone else has migraines with or without their periods. I know how bad these can be and I finally found something that works. This is a long message.

I have never had these side effects but others might. This combination usually stops my migraines within 2-3 hours. This has also stopped me from getting as many migraines. I used to get 4-5 migraines a week and now I might get one a month. You need prescriptions for these and I suggest you talk to your doctor before trying this. If it works for you give it out to whomever youthink would benefit from it.Hope this helps you as much as it has helped me. Shalena
