Just to add to what Ronna had said, I have had a laproscopy, and was satisfied with the results. I was very sore for the week following, which is normal, and the only physical evidence of a surgery was the "bruising" (again, normal) and the incisions (2 small cross-like purple marks right above my hair line, and 1 small incision inside my belly-button, all of which were nearly invisible 5 months later). I have not had a laprotomy, so I cannot tell you anything in that area...
